Privacy Policy
MyKitchen ("we", "our") is a meal planning app. This policy explains what information the app handles and the choices you have. We built MyKitchen to be privacy-friendly: your recipes, meal plans and kitchen inventory belong to you and stay on your device.
What we collect
Content you create stays on your device
Your kitchen inventory, recipes, cookbooks, weekly meal plans, grocery lists and chat history with the recipe assistant are stored locally on your device. We do not run user accounts and we do not store this content on our servers. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.
Photos and videos you scan are processed, not stored
When you scan your fridge or a receipt, the photo or video is sent securely to an AI provider (Google Gemini or Anthropic Claude) to recognize the items, and the recognized list is returned to your device. We do not store your photos or videos on any server of ours; they are used only to process your request.
Text you send to AI features is processed, not stored by us
Recipe generation, the "Ask the Chef" assistant and ingredient parsing send the relevant text (for example your ingredient names or your question) to Anthropic Claude, and for recipe generation through our Supabase function, to produce a response. Grocery price comparison sends ingredient names anonymously to Albert Heijn and Jumbo product-search APIs. None of these requests include your name, email or any account identifier; the app has no accounts.
Usage analytics are anonymous
We collect anonymous usage data (which features are used, how often, counts and durations, and never the contents of your inventory, recipes, chats or photos) to improve the app. We use PostHog, hosted in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany). The only identifier is a random ID generated on your device; it is not linked to your identity. Analytics data is not sold and is not used for advertising.
Crash reports
If the app crashes, technical information about the crash (device model, OS version, app version and a technical stack trace) is sent to Sentry (EU region) so we can fix it. Log contents are masked before sending; IP addresses are not collected.
What we do NOT do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not show ads or share data with advertisers.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, location or health data.
- We do not require an account.
Service providers
To provide app features, data is processed by: Google (Gemini API: photo/video recognition, recipe images), Anthropic (Claude API: recipe generation, chat, parsing), Supabase (recipe generation function), Albert Heijn and Jumbo (anonymous product/price search), PostHog Cloud EU (anonymous analytics) and Sentry EU (crash reports).
Your rights (GDPR)
MyKitchen is available in the European Union and you have rights under the GDPR, including access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. Because your content lives on your device and our analytics are anonymous, the most direct way to delete your data is to delete the app. For anything else, including a request to delete analytics data associated with your device ID, contact us and we will help.
Data retention
Your content stays on your device and is deleted when you delete the app. Anonymous analytics and crash data are retained by our providers (PostHog EU, Sentry EU) according to our configuration and deleted on request.
Children
MyKitchen is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will post any changes on this page.
